CSA Preparatory Piano students presented a Jazz/Pop recital on Sunday, March 18.  Musical styles included CCM, jazz, pop, blues, and broadway.  Wheaton College students accompanied the young pianists on bass guitar & drums.

Community School of the Arts presents the Preparatory Honors Recital on Sunday, February 26 at 3:15pm in Pierce Chapel on the Wheaton College campus. Featuring the most prepared and hardworking piano, violin, and clarinet students from CSA’s Preparatory program. The Prep Honors Recital is generously sponsored by JW Pepper.

Community School of the Arts Suzuki Piano students presented “Music from the Far East” on Sunday, February 12 on the Wheaton College campus. All three programs began in Pierce chapel with an opening ceremony featuring performances by guest artists. CSA students played Asian-inspired music from the Suzuki repertoire and many dressed in costume.

Con Fuoco Violins, the O’Connell family, and Jesse McAdoo’s Chamber Ensemble group performed almost an hour of music as a service at Villa St. Benedict in Lisle. The student played selections such as Over the Rainbow, Irish and American fiddle, a Swedish waltz, Suzuki violin repertoire, and a piano quartet.

Two Chamber Program student ensembles and the Con Fuoco Violin ensemble ushered in the holiday spirit with performances of classical and Christmas music in the lobby before the Von Heidecke Festival Ballet Nutcracker at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at College of DuPage for three shows on Friday and Saturday Dec. 16 and 17.

CSA Beethoven’s Buddies students Spencer Hua and Sophie Netzel were invited to play at the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, Illinois this past July (click here to see a video of Spencer’s performance). Beethoven’s Buddies program creator, Dr. Bauer, spoke about piano instruction for students with special needs at the conference.
