This fall, CSA was busy creating the group art project, “INSPIRE”. CSA’s art students, music students, faculty and staff made up the over 140 people who created this piece that contains over 250 components!
In preparation for this piece, the participants learned some watercolor techniques as well as how each piece works individually and as part of the whole. Color grouping, or analogous colors, play a large part in this work. For example, the warm colors of red and orange will read as one image. Participants were given a square of paper with directions only on what colors to use. The value, technique, and style of painting was up to each painter. These individual decisions create exciting variations within the work, yet INSPIRE” still functions as a whole. The original “INSPIRE” piece is comprised of three 8-foot panels, and is hanging in the southeast stairwell of Pierce Chapel near the main CSA office.
“INSPIRE” posters are on sale for $7.00
